Exclusive News - Meet the newest Vedock!

Well the Vedock's have a new little girl coming to the family!  Jen and I always thought that if we were to ever have a second child that we would consider adoption.  Over the past year and a half we have gone through the adoption process and had all our paperwork submitted to the country of Vietnam.  As the U.S. relations with several countries around the World were not positive (Thank you GW Bush), the country of Vietnam along with several others closed their adoption programs to the United States...which left us out.  After several months of indecisiveness about our adoption future this little girl below came to our adoption agency.  Her name is Isha (named after her mother) and she is from Nagpur India.  Her mother passed away at birth and her father chose to relinquish her for adoption.  She carries the sickle cell trait (she does not have the actual sickle cell disease) she was considered "in India" to be high risk because of Hindu beliefs that females should fertile (lots of fertility Gods) and be able birth future children once older.  In reality...especially in the U.S., there are ways of becoming pregnant even with this trait (and that's hopefully we won't worry about that for another 30 years!)

Jen and I are incredibly excited to have Isha come into our lives as the Official Process of Adoption has started today and we hope to have her back here in Oakland in 6-7 months at the latest.  She is currently 17 months old, born on August 18, 2007 and as you can see very petite, which fits our family profile!!  Giana was very excited when she saw Isha's picture wanting to know if 1.) She can play with her... And 2.) Does she get to sleep in my room.  Currently this is the only picture we have of her, we've been told this is very recent.

More to come in the future....
